Obituary for Edith Marie DeHart (Bishop)

Edith Marie DeHart was born to Edgar Bishop and Frances Venuti in Boston, Massachusetts on
July 5, 1948. She attended public school in Boston, graduating from Girl’s High School in
1966. She relocated to New Hampshire with her mother’s family in the early 1970’s. From
1990 to 2010 she resided in various states as she accompanied her late husband, the Rev. Fr. Joseph E. DeHart, to seminary school and then his assignments as an Anglican Catholic priest. She returned to New
Hampshire in 2010 upon his passing. She died in Barrington, NH on May 23, 2023 with family
by her side after a brief battle with cancer.
Edith had a career in real estate. She worked at real estate firms in the Rochester, NH area,
eventually opening her own brokerage. She continued to work in various aspects of real estate
and business throughout her time in Vermont, Florida, and Ohio. In addition to her career, she
enjoyed spending her time and effort supporting her husband’s ministry.
Edith was predeceased by her parents, her sister Elaine Moore of Parsonsfield, ME, and her
brother Paul Bishop of Alton, NH. She is survived by her sister Jayne Bourgoine of Newport
News, VA, her son Perry Barnett of Concord, NH, her daughter Stacey Frias of Kingston, NH,
and her three stepsons Joseph DeHart,Jr. of Wells, ME, Jeff DeHart of Tempe, AZ, and Jerry
DeHart of Ogunquit, ME.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Purdy Memorial Chapel in Lee,
NH to be held on Friday June 2, 2023. Visiting hours will be begin at 11AM. There will be a
service at noon with a reception to follow. A private burial will occur at a later date at the Forest
Grove Cemetery in Lebanon, ME where Edith will be interred next to her beloved late husband.
