Dover: Douglas Nickerson, 67, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Riverside Rest Home in Dover, NH. Born March 18, 1946, he was the younger son of George E.R. Nickerson, Jr. and Dorothy Anne (Durfee) Nickerson Cilley. He was pre-deceased by his brother Randall (Randy) in 1964, his father in 1979, and his mother in 2004. He was also pre-deceased by his step-father Herb Cilley whom his mother married in 1986. He is survived by a niece and her family, a number of cousins, and his step-brothers, David and Dean Cilley, and his step sister, Judith Kelsea, and their families. A 1965 graduate of Oyster River High School in Durham, Doug had the soul of an artist and musician -- trapped within the reality of schizophrenia which manifested in his late teens. He found a wonderful, supportive community at Riverside Rest Home where he enjoyed life as he spent his final years. His family expresses their deep gratitude to the staff of Riverside and the Office of Public Guardian who cared so lovingly for Doug. A Celebration of Doug’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18 at Riverside Rest Home, 276 County Farm Road, Dover, NH. Flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may be made in Doug’s memory to Riverside Rest Home.
