Obituary for Dorothy W. "Dots" Batson (Williams)

Dorothy Batson, 87, died peacefully in her sleep on February 9, 2024. The daughter of Frederick B. Williams, Jr., and Ethel Prescott Williams, she graduated from the Needham, Massachusetts school system. Her goal in life from age 6 was to be a teacher. She achieved this ambition though education at Lesley College, Wheelock College, University of Nebraska, Eastern Washington, and University of New Hampshire.

Dots married her high school sweetheart, Clinton, a dashing B52 pilot, and traveled extensively as an Air Force wife for 27 years. She finally settled long enough to become a Reading Specialist and Title 1 Project manager. She enjoyed teaching in Oyster River, Somersworth, Newington and Dover. Over the years she helped hundreds of students find a love of reading.
After retirement, Dots volunteered in the Lee Cooperative church nursery and at Moharimet in her granddaughter’s classroom. Nothing was more important to Dots than her family and she spent much of her time helping her three daughters with the care of their children and pets. She and her husband, Clinton, enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren at the family farm in Addison, Maine.
She is predeceased by her husband of almost 60 years Clinton Batson, and daughter Jennifer Wilson. She leaves behind a son in law, Greg Wilson, a daughter, Carolyn Tremblay and her husband Richard, a daughter Wendy Gibson and her husband Mark, and four grandchildren, Jeffrey, Matthew, Laurel and Reed.
In lieu of flowers, family members request that donations be made to the NH SPCA in Stratham in honor of the many Springer Spaniels Dorothy loved all though her life. A private family service will be held at the family farm later in the year.
