Obituary for Conrad Joseph Lebrun

On Thursday, June 29th, Conrad Lebrun, comforted by his family, peacefully passed away of natural causes at (Langdon Place) in Dover, NH. Born in Sanford, Maine on April 19, 1932, Conrad’s parents had emigrated to the United States from Quebec Province in Canada in search of a better life for their family and textile industry jobs in southern Maine. He grew up in a family of eight children, was educated in the Sanford school system and excelled at football while attending St. Ignatius High School. Soon after his graduation, he married Jackie (Cormier) and was drafted into the army, where he was assigned to a tour of duty in Korea. Upon returning, he worked for Colonial Aircraft, until he secured a position as an advertising salesman for Foster’s Daily Democrat of Dover, NH, where he moved with his young family in 1961. Conrad rose through the ranks at Foster’s, becoming Advertising Manager, a position he held for many years until his retirement. Having a keen interest in sports of all kind, he volunteered as a football, basketball and baseball coach during the 1960’s. In the 1970’s Conrad became an accomplished tennis player into his early 80’s when some tired knees told him it was time to stop.

Though their marriage was not permanent, he and Jackie remained friends. Conrad married Gloria (Merrill) in 1985, and who predeceased him in 2019, moved to Somersworth, NH and were very active in the South Berwick, ME Senior Center. Cheering on his grandchildren at baseball, basketball, softball, tennis and volleyball games gave him great pleasure and he was a regular each those venues.

Conrad is survived by his son Steve of Delray Beach, FL, daughter Donna Sheldon of Dover, NH and step-daughters Diana Arnold of Rochester, NH and Dawn Labrie of Dover, NH, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a contribution to the South Berwick Senior Center, an organization that provided Conrad and Gloria a wonderful source of friendship and entertainment for many years.
