Obituary for Christine Ann Monteiro

Strafford, NH: Christine Ann Monteiro, 62, of 35 Water Street passed on August 20, 2019 at Exeter Hospital with her daughters by her side after a lengthy illness. She was born on May 11, 1957 in Saugus, MA; daughter of Howard B., and Ruth A. Fitzemeyer Fisher Christine was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was always there for her daughters and would stop whatever she was doing at a moment’s notice; no matter how far she had to travel or how long her girls needed her for. One of the most special roles she had was being Giggee to her 6 grandchildren. They meant the world to her and she meant the world to them. She was the glue that kept everyone together, whether through the yearly family party, the quiet dinner for 10 (that was not so quiet) she organized for her brothers and sisters, or the many friends that would stick to her because of her kindness and generosity. Christine was a woman with style who always dressed nice no matter the occasion. She loved to shop for anything and everything and would often make special trips to a store for friends and family. Christine found the best deals, would not stop shopping until her car was full, and taught many of her friends the art of shopping. In the last few years, Christine became an independent consultant for Northwood Naturals and began selling their items at craft fairs and farmers markets, where she was never without her signature style and heels. She was always laughing and joking with perfect strangers who then became fast friends, that looked for her each year at the shows. Christine is survived by her spouse of 40 years, Jack Monteiro; 4 daughters, Theresa Locke and her husband Josh of Strafford, NH; Dawn Papineau and her husband Stephen of Barrington, NH; Tiffany Higgs and her husband Bryan of Epsom, NH; and Kristina Tallman and her husband Adam of Strafford, NH; 9 siblings, Ray of Stoughton, MA; Gloria of Weymouth, MA; Bunny of Lynn, MA; Sonny of Reading, MA; Ronny of Saugus, MA; Roberta of Nottingham, NH; Grover of Effingham, NH; Bobby of Joelton, TN; and George of Saugus, MA; and 6 grandchildren, Gwyneth Locke, Hayden Locke, Aaron Papineau, Kendall Higgs, Brynlee Higgs, and Tyson Higgs. In lieu of flowers, her family would like you do as she has done and help a family in need this coming Christmas or donate to Toys for Tots. A Celebration of Christine’s life will be held from 1:00-4:00pm on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Purdy Memorial Chapel located at 2 Concord Road, Lee, NH. In honor of Christine, her husband and daughters invite you to dress in celebration by wearing something she would wear, something she would have purchased for Jack, or in your favorite color and style. Think of something she helped you pick out, purchased for you, or something you found while shopping in her closet. She looked beautiful on every occasion and we would like others to honor her in that way. To sign our online guestbook, please go to www.purdyfuneralservice.com
