Obituary for Chester Raymond Barnes Jr.

Retired Marine CWO-2 Chester R. Barnes Jr. passed away suddenly in his home on Sunday, November 27th, 2022. He was 91 years Young. He was a patriot, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and everything in between. Proper honors and tribute to the many titles he held and how incredibly special he was would be a mile long and truly only for the benefit of a stranger, but “Chet” never met a stranger. Everyone he ever touched will undoubtedly feel the immense hole created on this earth by his loss. Whether you had the pleasure of chatting with him at the “Coffee Corner” at “Liar’s Paradise” in his beloved Nottingham, or he crafted you and your family one of his famous birdhouses, or you got to experience his attentive and generous nature that made sure you always had what you needed, his memory will live on in the community he held so dear to his heart. As was true in his life remains in his death, “they don’t make them like him anymore.” He will be missed tremendously by the family he leaves behind, a list so large because, to Chet, everyone was family.
Services for Chet will be on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Purdy Memorial Chapel, 2 Concord Rd. Rt #4, Lee, NH 03861; visitation from 10:00 am -11:00 am with a service to follow at 11:00 am. To sign our online guestbook, please go to www.purdyfuneralservice.com
