Obituary for Charlyne M Stegman (Misiorek)

Charlyne M. Stegman, 79, died on the morning of October 2, 2022, in Dover NH surrounded by the love of her family and grandchildren.

She was born December 3, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY to John and Doris Misiorek as their only child. Although born in New York, she spent most of her life in Maine where her mother originated.

Charlyne was a wife to John Stegman, a career naval Senior Chief Petty Officer, a homemaker, and mother of three boys. She travelled the US extensively in support of her husband and her family throughout her life. However, she always found ways to return to Lisbon Falls, Maine where she and John built and owned their family home of over 50 years.

She was a graduate of Rumford High School. After graduation, her family relocated to Lewiston, ME where she eventually met her husband while he was stationed at the Brunswick Naval Air Station. She was also a devoted daughter to her mother and her aunts after her father’s passing. Her mother, her aunts and a vibrant group of relatives were a consistent presence in her family’s lives.

Her interests included family, food, travel whenever possible and she enjoyed being part of her family’s growth. She spent many hours enjoying plays, concerts (Barry Manilow was her favorite), and travel with her youngest son Kyle. She never passed up an opportunity to acquire a gadget that promised to dice, slice, chop, tell the weather, or solve any multitude of life’s challenges. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren whenever possible and being part of their evolving lives.

Charlyne is survived by her sons and their families. Royce Stegman, 58, lives in Lee, NH with his wife Sue. Carl (CJ) Stegman, 54, lives in Quechee, VT with his wife Stacey. Kyle Stegman, 48, lives in Greenland, NH with his partner Bradford Manning. She has six grandchildren: Derek, Nathan, Sydney, Amanda, Hayden and Corina.

She was preceded in death by her lifelong husband, John Stegman in 2009. She never remarried after his death as he was her one true love.

A celebration of life service will be held in her honor and the family will communicate date, location and times in the coming days.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests Donations to Wentworth Douglas Care-Van Service, In Memory of Charlyne Stegman 789 Central Ave. Dover, NH 03820.
