Obituary for Charles Henry Perry Mr.

Charles Henry Perry, 76, of Rochester, NH, and Lady Lake, FL, died on Sunday October 20, 2019. Born in Laconia on October 12, 1943, he was the son of James Eugene Perry and Jessie Mae (Clark) Perry. He graduated from Laconia High School in 1961 and Plymouth State College in 1965. Charlie taught in Newport NH, at Spaulding HS in Rochester, where he coached track and field, and at Oyster River High School in Durham, retiring in 2002. He was active in the Oyster River Teachers Guild, serving as chief negotiator for many years. A member of Nippo Lake Golf Club in Barrington, NH, for 30 years, he mowed fairways after retirement. He was the most improved player in 2000 and in 2011 he and Ellen won the Member-Member tournament. In 2009 they began wintering in The Villages, FL. Charlie, Ellen and the cats loved being warm in the winter, but also looked forward to summer and fall in NH. Charlie is survived by his wife of 34 years, Clara Ellen (Yeaton) Perry; his sons, Charlie Jr. of Rochester, Kenny (Jen Boulanger) of Westerly RI, and Malcolm (Joan) of Derry; his daughter, Annette Perry (Derrick Webber) of Mesa, AZ; siblings, Lorraine (Don) Morin of Laconia, Frances (Richard) Zahn of Virginia Beach VA, Becky Roy of Leominster, MA, Bill Perry of Indianapolis, IN, and Teena Hawkins of Deer Park, NY; brother in law, Kevin Brown of Billerica MA; and mother in law, Margaret Yeaton of Hallowell, ME. Five beloved grandchildren survive: Brett and Alex Perry of Mystic CT, Cole and Jason Perry of Derry, and Susan Webber of Mesa, AZ. Rufus, the last of the cats, misses Charlie greatly. Charlie was predeceased by his parents, his stepfather Henry Perry, father in law Carl Yeaton, and siblings Mary Brown and James E. Perry Jr. Charlie believed that laughter was an important addition to everyone’s day. In his memory, tell a joke then laugh like it’s the funniest thing you have ever heard. Don’t let it bother you if no one else thinks it’s funny, because you will be getting your dose of laughter for the day. At Charlie’s request, there is no funeral. A celebration of life may be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a food pantry, a humane society, or a homeless shelter in his name.
