Obituary for Beverly M Richards (Welch)

Beverly (Welch) (Clark) Richards, 78 years old of Dover, NH passed away on July 9th at the home of her daughter Danielle Clark, from complications of Alzheimer’s and a stroke. She was born on September 8th 1942 in Dover, NH, the 3rd child and only daughter of Harold “Hal” Welch and Verna Brown. She graduated from Dover High School in 1960, and UNH.

Beverly was an amazing woman, having cared for her own mother during her teens, until her mother’s death from cancer in 1960, raising her two daughters as a single mother after her first husband left, caring for her brother Wally, who struggled with mental health issues for many years, aiding her brother Bob in his final years of dialysis, and always being there for her beloved “baby brother” Albert. She was, first and foremost, a caregiver, but she was so much more. She was a DIYer before it was a thing. She was artistic, creative, self-sufficient, and selfless to the end. Bev was the kind of woman who was always on the go, whether gardening, crafting, visiting family and friends, or taking a walk. Her family came first and she set an example of faith, and trust in the Lord. She enjoyed her grand (and great-grand) children immensely. When they were in her care she stopped everything to play. She was the best Nana a child could ask for and her grandchildren enjoy so many special memories of time spent with her.

Beverly was the first in her family, to not only graduate high school, but to achieve a college degree (UNH). She majored in health administration and minored in political science. She knew her politics, yet was not pushy with her opinions. She could always be counted on to offer an unbiased opinion (but only if asked) and she gave everyone the benefit of the doubt. She was a true example of integrity, love and devotion. Traits that she has passed on to her children and grandchildren.

Bev has always had an unwavering faith in the Lord, reading her Bible daily and praying for those who needed it. She was never afraid to die and welcomed it, knowing exactly where she was going. In this, her family finds so much comfort and peace.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Paul Richards of Dover, NH, her loving daughters, Colleen Clark-Fenton and her husband Daniel of Barrington, and Danielle Clark, of Gonic. Grandchildren: Jeremy Fenton and his wife Taryn (Haas) of Rochester; Shane Fenton and his fiancé Ashley (Brownell) of Rochester, and Addisyn Boucher of Gonic, NH. Great grandchildren: Maddison Fenton, Delilah Fenton and Olivia Fenton. And her brother Albert Welch of Dover.

Beverly was predeceased by her parents, and her brothers, Walter Welch, Robert Welch, and Richard Pitts.

A private family service will be held. Memorial donations may be made to The Cocheco Valley Humane Society, St. Jude’s Hospital, or the Alzheimer’s Association. To sign our guestbook, please go to www.purdyfuneralservice.com
