Obituary for Betty Batchelder Mrs.

Nottingham: Betty Christine (Bailey) Batchelder, of Nottingham, NH, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on April 26, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Betty was born December 17, 1935, in Barrington, NH, daughter of Raymond and Charlotte (Goff) Bailey. Betty grew up in Barrington on the Bailey family farm, which is now Nippo Lake Golf Course. Betty graduated from Spaulding High School in 1953 where she was a member of the girls’ basketball team and played saxophone in the marching band. She went on to graduate from Houle's Academy of Hairdressing in Manchester, NH. Betty married her husband, Bradford Batchelder Jr. and moved to Nottingham where they raised their family. In addition to being a devoted wife and amazing mother, she was a 4-H Club leader, taught Sunday school and helped create the first kindergarten in Nottingham. Betty enjoyed knitting, baking, cooking, reading, collecting pigs, gardening and taking care of everyone else. Betty will continue to embrace the ones she loved with the beautiful and cozy sweaters that she knit that were as unique and as warm as her smile. She was a quiet, calm soul that always made her house a home, putting family first in whatever she did. Betty is survived by her husband of 57 years Bradford P. Batchelder Jr., and their four children: Heidi Seaverns and her husband Skip of Nottingham, NH, Hope Batchelder-Roach and her husband Shawn Roach of Nottingham, NH, Heather Bigos and her husband Woody of Rochester, NH, and Heath Batchelder and his wife Kathy McPhee of Nottingham, NH.
