Dover: Bertha M. Duke, 98, died on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at The Edgewood Center Nursing Home. She was born on June 30, 1913 in Dover, NH; the daughter of Eugene and Katherine (Ernst) Riekert. Bertha was one of seven children and a lifelong resident of Dover. She graduated from Dover High School in 1930 and after graduation worked at the Kidder Press and her family’s butcher shop. Bertha is survived by her granddaughter Lisa (Duke) Bado, her spouse Christopher and two children, Casey and Skyler, of Dover; and several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her spouse, John W. Duke, and two children, John R. Duke and William E. Duke; her three brothers, Carl, Eugene and Walter and three sisters, Anna, Emma and Marie. Memorial contributions may be made in Bertha’s name to The Cocheco Valley Humane Society. A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, April 28th at the recreation hall at Jensens Mobile Home Park, Rt 108 in Dover, from 11:00am to 2:00pm for family and friends.
