Obituary for Barbara Joyce Pickering (Morrell)
Barbara Pickering, 90, passed away at her home in Newington on January 4, 2023, after a period of declining health. She was born on March 30, 1932, to John and Lilly Morrell.
She graduated from Newmarket High School, attended stenography school in Boston, and worked for the ROTC at the University of New Hampshire.
Barbara enjoyed traveling around the U.S. with her husband. She also enjoyed watching the Celtics, Red Sox, and Bruins along with knitting, reading, and word puzzles. She was a caring and loving person who always put the needs of others before her own and who was touched with magic in the kitchen baking cookies and pies and telling stories about family history or folk tales to her grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband Kenneth and son Roger.
Barbara is survived by her sons Kenneth Jr. and Paul Pickering and daughter Barbara Moynahan, grandchildren Troy, Jonathan, Stacy, and Sean and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in her memory to the Newington Fire & Police Dept.
A private service for the family will be held at Purdy Memorial Chapel in Lee on Tuesday Jan. 10. With a celebration of life at the Newington town hall on Jan. 14th. from 1:00 to 3:00.
