Obituary for Alice A Clark (Rogerson)

Alice A. (Rogerson) Clark
Alice was born on March 12, 1924 in Totowa (now Paterson), New Jersey of parents John Rogerson and Anna (Shaw) Rogerson. After marriage to Evan Clark, a career man in the Air Force, she lived at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida , Sidi Slimane Air Force Base in Morocco, Africa, and at Pease Air Force Base in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She ultimately became a single parent of five children who all became college graduates and had rewarding careers. Loving her children, she encouraged them and participated with them in many sports and musical activities; she was a Girl Scout leader and a Boy Scout den mother. Alice also enjoyed many crafts, sewing her clothes, those of her children, and house furnishings.
Returning to the employment scene, she was an executive secretary for nine years to a president and vice president of a computer and furniture supplies corporation where she processed government contracts and foreign sales. Alice also was employed at the University of New Hampshire where she completed four years in the Spanish language department. After retirement from the University, Alice was employed part-time as a medical transcriptionist for a prominent podiatrist in Dover, NH.
While at the University, Alice was a member of Professional Secretaries International (now called International Association of Administrative Professionals). She served as treasurer, vice president and then as president of the Durham Chapter. As president, she traveled as a delegate to many areas in the United States.
In 1997, Alice moved to Buttonwood Village, Punta Gorda, Florida where she served on the Association Board of Directors. When in 2004 Hurricane Charlie destroyed her home, she returned to Dover, New Hampshire briefly until she found housing in Fort Myers, Florida.
In 2007, Alice returned to New Hampshire, living in Durham, to be near her children, and
continued being active teaching Spanish at the Dover Senior Center.

Alice’s talents were in music and sports. She had her first performance as soloist on WPAT radio station in Paterson when she was l0 years old. In her teen years, she performed in Radio City, Rivoli Theatre, New York City being on stage with celebrities such as Ralph Bellamy. She was a soloist at weddings, choruses, church choirs, and social events. During World War II, Alice sang a USO functions and at military hospitals for the wounded Gis. While at Sidi Slimane AFB, she performed in the capitol city of Rabat. She taught piano and directed a junior choir at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church in Dover. Alice started her tennis career at 12 years of age; captained teams in New Hampshire and in Florida. She won a medal while playing in the Florida Senior Games. While in N.H., she was a member of the tennis team at the Works Athletic Club.

She survived her husband Evan and 2 sisters, June Moraino of Totowa, New Jersey and
Pearl Triggiani of Paterson, New Jersey. Surviving her are children Alice Noyes and
Husband Paul of Epsom, NH; Janice Clark of Dover, NH; Mark Clark and wife Karin of
Owings, Maryland; Amy Thompson and husband Scott of Dunkirk, Maryland; John Clark of Dover, NH; and 5 wonderfully talented grandchildren; and many good friends made through the years.

She bids adieu to all, hoping to meet again in whatever lies beyond Her family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the care and support all gave at Saint Ann Nursing Facility where she
resided for the last three years.
