Obituary for Alberta May Johnson (Freeman)

Alberta May Johnson, 95 years old , residing in Santa Clarita, California, passed away on June 23rd , 2022 of natural causes.

Alberta was born on May 9, 1927 to Ruby and Bernard Freeman of York, Maine. After Alberta graduated from York High School, she married Arthur Johnson of York, Maine, when he returned home from the war in 1945. They went on to settle in Dover, New Hampshire and have two sons, Francis and Clyde. Dover was her residence for most of her adult life.

After a short stint working at a local manufacturing company, Alberta settled into the role of full-time homemaker. She enjoyed attending aerobics class, gardening, hosting backyard barbecues, socializing with neighbors and friends, and driving her little yellow Volkswagen Beetle around town and to her favorite Long Sands Beach in York, Maine. As a homemaker, she loved baking and cooking for everyone.

Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Louise Park of Amherst, Massachusetts; her husband of 65 years; her Grandson, Craig Johnson and her daughter-in-law, Susan Filion Johnson.

She is survived by: her son Francis and his wife Rachel; her son Clyde; her granddaughter Andrea Johnson Cervantes, her husband Louie and their six children: Jeremy, Jacob, Joshua, Julia, Jonah and Jocelyn; her grandson Erik, his wife Kelley and their son Hunter; her grandson Craig’s two children ,James and Jennifer; and various nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are being handled by Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey- Dion Funeral Home in Dover, NH.

A graveside service will be held on August 17th at 10:00am at Pine-hill cemetery in Dover N.H.
